The facelifted Hyundai Grand Starex Royale was first spotted earlier this week in an ad, and now, Hyundai Sime Darby Malaysia has officially introduced it as their latest model slated for 2017.
In different auto markets, the Starex remain unchanged since its introduction in 2007; its previous updates (2009, 2011 and 2014) were just made locally available. From a local perspective, the 2017 Hyundai Grand Starex is the fourth of the second-gen TQ. But for the massive consumer base, this new version basically marks the first time Starex has been updated.
Stylish and dynamic, the latest revamp brings about a new front bumper that comes with LED daytime running light (DRL) --- remaining illuminated during the day to warn pedestrians and other drivers about the presence of another car. The ultimate multi-purpose van also simplifies things by having automatic sliding doors: left-sided for the Premium variant and both-sided for the Deluxe variant. Aside from that, it comes with a safety sensor that can detect any road obstacle and immediately stop it from closing in.
Internally, its designs and feature are quite astonishing. Its door lights lits up to provide decent illumination whenever entering and exiting the car. There are swivel seats in the second-row as well, allowing passengers to adjust their seating (up to a 180 degree turn) and make their car journey a more sociable one.
As for its performance, no mechanical changes were made. It's still the previous 2.5 litre CRDi diesel engine with VGT, as well as the five-speed auto transmission with a sports mode and an excellent suspension.
Exterior colours available for the 2017 model are Creamy White, Timeless Black, and Hyper Silver. The Grand Starex Royale Deluxe 2.5 GLS is priced at RM168,888 with insurance and comes with a five-year or 300,000 km extended warranty.
The Hyundai Grand Starex Royale will be available for viewing at all Hyundai showrooms in Malaysia starting December.
