Months of speculation finally gave way to the big reveal Wednesday afternoon when Apple introducedthe new iPhone 5 to the world.
During a conference in San Francisco, the technology giant released the highly-anticipated sleek device.Here's four new specs the iPhone 5 features:
1. Larger Screen: The iPhone 5 has a longer 4-inch screen, that's a half-inch difference fromprevious 3.5-inch models. It's also 18 percent thinner than the iPhone 4S.
2. LET connectivity: The iPhone 5 will use 4G LTE networks. According to CNET, the LTE hasa single chip for voice and data, a single chip, and a "dynamic antenna" that will switchconnections between different networks automatically. AT&T, Sprint and Verizon are the U.S.carriers that will support the LTE for the iPhone 5.
3. Faster Chip: The device will feature an A5 chip, which will reportedly operate two times fasterthan the current A5 chip. It will also be 22 percent smaller. According to Apple, web pages willload two times faster and music apps will load 1.9 times faster.
4. Smaller dock connector: As expected, the device will have a smaller dock connector. The30-pin design is 80 percent smaller than past models and is incompatible with many third-party accessories. Apple announced it will release a special adapter to convert current dockconnectors to the new, smaller model.
The price of the iPhone 5 will remain the same as the 4S $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB and $399 for64 GB. The release of the new iPhone 5 is expected to blow the recently released Nokia 920 and theSamsung Galaxy S III out of the water.
