Austrian car maker KTM is ready to hit the roads of the U.S. And its making its debut with just any sedan, hatchback or simple sports utility vehicle. KTM is planning to make a splash with a model that looks like a combination between an angry orange bug and a Batmobile.
KTM has been trying to make a grand venture into the shores of the U.S. since 2008. But growing competition in the auto industry, as well as, a rivalry between the local distributor and company officials put KTM's plans on hold. The Austria-based motorcycle manufacturer is offering a light, roofless, sports car titled as the X-bow (pronounced cross-bow). Auto experts believe the yet-to-be-launched vehicle's unique style should attract lots of attention.
The roofless sports car X-bow might hit the roads of the U.S. by the end of the yeear, but the official sources beleive the model is not built for the everyday man, but for those who want a shot of adrenaline while driving the X-bow. The official technical specifications detail that the latest model comes with 'turbocharged Audi-4 cylinder engine mounted behind the driver seat, output varies with model year and type of X-bow purchased but essentially the model comes in between the 237 and 296 horsepower.
The technical specifications further explain that the X-bow is not a pure acceleration tool and also it is not a tops-speed beast but it runs out of steam presumably due to aerodynamic drag at just 144 mph. Auto experts speculate the major drawback for the model is that it has no windshields or top; a possible drawback for female audiences. It has yet to be seen whether the model will get any response in the U.S. market where the exterior and technical specifications are given more importance than not only just looks.
