Tesla delivered 11,507 vehicles in the second quarter, setting a new company record, according to Business Insider.
"This was a new company record for the most cars delivered in a quarter and represents an approximate 52% increase over quarter 2 last year," the electric automaker said in a report.
The company also increased deliveries by 55 percent in the first quarter, shipping a total of 10,030 cars. Unlike demand, production rate is an issue at Tesla. The company set a total benchmark of 55,000 deliveries for the year, which means it is less than halfway there, currently at 21,537, after two quarters.
Tesla claims that the demand for its cars are there, but production capacity is what is behooving the company. There is something to look forward to, however, as the Model X SUV will debut in the third quarter, according to Fox Business. The Model X is sure to add several thousand deliveries to Tesla's total.
Tesla beat its predicted delivery count of 11,000 cars by 507 in the second quarter, so anything is possible in terms of reaching its final goal of 55,000.
