The highly-anticipated seventh installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise has been retitled "Furious 7."

The new name for the film, which was previously called "Fast and Furious 7," was announced on online by Universal Pictures.

The film, which opens this spring, is one of the last movies to star Paul Walker, who was killed in a fatal car crash last November.

Walker died halfway through shooting "Furious 7," though the movie will still include his performance, according to the Associated Press.

In the past, the "Fast & Furious" movies have stayed away from consistent titles, maybe more so than any other franchise. Instead the titles feature mixed articles and numbers, like "2 Fast 2 Furious," "The Fast and the Furious" and "Fast Five."

Filming for "Furious 7" wrapped up back in July. The news was confirmed in a heartfelt note online by the cast and crew.

 "Today we completed the last shot in the production of "Fast & Furious 7." We wanted to take this moment to express how thankful we are for your support," the letter reads. "We felt the love and strength from our fans throughout this journey, and it's because of you that we got here."

Directed by James Wan, the movie features Vin Diesel, Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black.

Also confirmed for "Furious 7" are Jason Statham, Tony Jaa, Kurt Russell, Nathalie Emmanuel, Djimon Hounsou, John Brotherton and a cameo by Iggy Azaela.

"Furious 7" will reach theaters on April 3, 2015, after originally being scheduled for a July 2014 release.

The franchise has grossed more than $2.4 billion worldwide since the first film was released back in 2001.

We have learned that the first trailer for the new movie is scheduled to debut on Nov. 1 at 12 p.m. PST. Make sure to check back this weekend once the trailer has been released.
