2016 Jaguar XE Revealed, Specs Confirmed (PHOTO)

Jaguar revealed its new XE model this week at the Paris Motor Show, which is designed to compete with other premium and mid-sized sedans.

Though it has an attractive body, the XE's design isn't that much different from other mid-sized sedans.

The Jaguar badge can be found on the wire grille, and lip spoiler on the boot lid finishes the new look.

Jaguar refers to the suspension and body construction as "aluminum intensive," which means it contains around 75 percent aluminum content. This is more than any other mid-size premium sedan.

The base curb weight is still 3,670 pounds, despite the fact that the automaker uses an alloy that contains recycled aluminum for some parts of the XE.

The XE features Jaguar's first use of an electric power-steering system, which allows different steering modes to go with its normal and sport drive options, according to the automaker.

The XE S comes equipped with a supercharged direct injection 3-liter V-6 engine, which is good for 340 hp, and 332 lb.-ft. of torque.

Jaguar says the vehicle can be purchased with a turbocharged direct injection 2-liter, four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 240 horsepower in one version, while another is capable of generating 200 hp, according to Jaguar.

Jaguar will also offer a 2-liter engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and some version will offer a six-speed manual.

Jaguar's new infotainment system features four titles on its homescreen, including navigation, phone, audio, and climate control.

Functions like apps, settings for the car's integrated Wi-Fi hotspot, and surround view camera have all been confirmed. Apps include iHeartRadio for music, INRIX for traffic, and Parkopedia, when the vehicle is integrated with an owner's smartphone.

Automated parallel parking and adaptive cruise control have both been confirmed.

The Jaguar XE goes on sale in 2015, but won't reach North America until 2016.
