Honda is recalling 2015 Honda Fit cars that have potentially problematic side curtain air bags, an issue that was unearthed during quality inspections at a Honda facility.

The recall, which has not been connected with any accidents or injuries so far, includes 6,292 cars that were built between April 11, 2014 and June 9, 2014, Edmunds.com reported.

"The affected vehicles may have been assembled with an A-pillar interior cover designed for vehicles without side curtain air bags," the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration described the problem. "The incorrect A-pillar interior cover may adversely affect the performance of the side curtain air bags, increasing the risk of occupant injury."

Expected to start on Thursday, the recall will involve dealers replacing the cover with the correct one. Meantime, owners can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.

In the standard trim, the Fit comes equipped with LED taillights, Bluetooth connectivity, a rearview camera and roofline spoiler.

The base Fit with a six-speed manual transmission returns 29 miles per gallon in city driving and 37 mpg on the highway, according to EPA fuel economy estimates.

The subcompact competes in its segment with models such as the 2014 Chevrolet Sonic, the Ford Fiesta and the Toyota Yaris.
