Toyota is recalling around 20,000 vehicles worldwide from the 2014 and 2015 model years for potential fuel leakage that could be a fire hazard, the automaker announced today.

The recall affects the 2015 Lexus RX as well as four Toyota vehicles from the 2014 model year: Avalon, Camry, Highlander and Sienna, according to Reuters.

While most of the recalled vehicles are in the U.S., the models have been shipped worldwide to countries including South Korea, Russia and Australia as well as other parts of Asia and the Middle East.

The vehicles, which are equipped with a 2GR-FE engine, have fuel delivery pipes that can leak since they were not properly welded by a Toyota supplier. Leaking fuel can increase the chance of fire.  

The carmaker is not aware of any crashes, injuries or deaths in connection with the recall, and the supplier that incorrectly welded the fuel delivery pipes has not been named. 

Affected owners will be notified by mail with notices inside the new federally mandated recall envelopes, which have "Safety Recall Notice" in large font on the lower right corner, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Dealerships will inspect the fuel delivery pipes on the vehicles to see if they were manufactured by the supplier that made the bad welds and replace the part if needed.
