Design Your Dream Muscle Car with Dodge Challenger Hellcat Configurator

Good news for anyone planning to buy a 707-horsepower supercar in the near future: the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat configurator has launched.

Fans can build their dream Challenger Hellcat by selecting paint color and interior and exterior options.

The nine exterior paint options include the classic Pitch Black Clear Coat as well as the unusually bright Sublime Green Pearl. The Ivory White Tri-Coat Pearl and Phantom Black Tri-Coat Pearl options will each cost $500 extra.

For the powertrain, the Hellcat comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, while the eight-speed automatic option costs $1,995 extra. Inside, the car features leather-trimmed bucket seats in the base trim. Premium Laguna Leather seats are also available for $1,795 extra, while red seat belts will add $95 to the price.

The Challenger Hellcat's exterior options that will cost extra are summer performance tires for $395; an aluminum hood with functional vents in Satin Black for $995; and a power sunroof for $1,195.

Chrysler has called the new muscle car its "most powerful ever." The new Challenger runs on a V8 engine rated at 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.

The muscle car will come with two key fobs in the standard trim: red and black.

"The red key fob is the only key that can unlock the full 707 horsepower and torque potential of the Challenger SRT Hellcat engine," Chrysler said in a statement. "While the black key fob limits the driver to a reduced engine output of 500 horsepower."

The Challenger compares with General Motors' 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, which runs on a new LT4 supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine rated at 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, according to the automaker. It has been priced at $60,990, including a $995 destination charge and a $2,100 gas-guzzler tax.
