Washington Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth was pulled over last month and charged with reckless driving for going 105 mph in a 55-mph zone, according to a Fairfax County General District Court Web site case file.

The charge was first reported by a fan blog site NatsEnquirer.com.

Werth, 35, was charged with a misdemeanor for the incident, which took place back on July 6, according to The Washington Post.

The former All-Star had a hearing scheduled for Aug.8, but the case has been continued until Nov. 12.

"The Washington Nationals have been in communication with right fielder Jayson Werth regarding this situation for multiple weeks," a Nationals spokesperson said in an e-mailed statement to the Post. "Jayson is cooperating with the authorities. As it is an ongoing legal matter, the team has no further comment."

Werth has not commented about the incident publicly yet.

The defense attorney listed in the court file, Rodney Leffler, has not returned phone calls made by the newspaper yet as well.

Werth is batting .279/.370/.430 with 12 home runs, 27 doubles, and 63 RBI this season.

The World Series champ is in the fourth season of a seven-year, $126 million contract, which he signed back in 2010 after leaving the Philadelphia Phillies.

Werth was not in uniform on Aug. 12 and is set to undergo tests on his injured right shoulder, according to CBS Sports. The issue involves his A/C joint, as he has "some inflammation," but Nationals manager Matt Williams said Werth isn't expected to land on the disabled list.
