Apple is getting rid of approximately 200 Beats employees as part of its $3 billion acquisition, according to a sources who spoke with the New York Post.
"Last week everyone was given an offer from Apple. Some were transitional offers with a set end date," one source said according to the paper.
The 200 employees represent approximately 40 percent of Beats' global workforce, which is a considerable downsizing that will most likely be filled internally once the iPhone maker is in full control of the company.
The deal is set to close on Aug. 1.
A separate report from Bloomberg claims expected cuts will come from human resources, finance, and other departments that overlap with current roles at Apple.
Apple plans to fire the works after the acquisition is in place, according to Bloomberg.
The Beats purchase has been overshadowed as of late thanks to rumors of Apple's next iPhone.
The European Commission gave Apple its permission to go forward with the acquisition this week, adding that the two companies' combined market share in the headphone business don't come close to that of competing companies, according to Reuters.
Audio giant Bose sued Beats' hardware arm last week, claiming infringement of patented noise canceling technology.
Apple will inherit the lawsuit once the deal is finalized next month, according to Apple Insider.
