Jaguar Land Rover has revealed camouflaged images of its new 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport premium compact SUV and confirmed how many passengers can fit inside.
The new Discovery Sport, which the automaker is calling a "family-friendly vehicle," will be able to sit up to seven passengers, thanks to a 5+2 seating configuration.
Images of the Discovery Sport show optional seating for two passengers in the third row.
The new vehicle will be patterned after the Land Rover Discovery Vision Concept.
It is expected to replace the Land Rover LR2.
"The Discovery Sport will feature optional 5+2 seating, offering a spacious load space and configurable seating, while still retaining a more compact footprint than traditional five-seat SUVs," said Gerry McGovern, Land Rover design director and chief creative officer, in a statement.
Interested customers can expect the new model to reach dealerships sometime in 2015.
Pricing and other details haven't been confirmed by the automaker yet.
The new Land Rover Discovery Sport is still in its final testing stages, according to the automaker.
Jaguar expects its new vehicle to compete for sales against the likes of the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class, and BMW X3.
