iPhone 6 Rumors: 4.7-Inch Device Will be Ready by September

A new rumor released this week indicates that one of Apple's next-generation smartphones, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, will be ready for launch at the company's September media event.

The larger 5.5-inch device won't enter production until that month however, according to Taiwanese newspaper UDN, which was first noted by GforGames.

The paper also suggests that the first production capacity will be limited.

Capacity is expected to increase by around 85 percent in the fourth quarter, possibly due to the addition of so-called "Foxbots," which are robots designed to aid assembly workers.

Apple asked its suppliers earlier this month to make between 70 to 80 million of its two upcoming iPhones by the end of 2014.

Based on the flyer released earlier this month, the 4.7-inch device will sell for roughly $851 in the U.S., while the 5.5-inch device will go for $1,012, according to GSMInsider, citing Phone Arena.

A Sept. 19 release date has been set for China, according to the flyer, which means a similar release should take place in the U.S. as well, along with a number of other countries.

Rumored specs for the next iPhone device include: 1704 x 960 pixel resolution, a faster A8 processor, a thinner profile, bezel-free design, camera upgrades, and a more durable, sapphire screen.

A new iOS 8 operating system that the next iPhone will utilize debuted at Apple's 2014 Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month.
