Ford Dealers Partner With Detroit Tigers to Find National Anthem Singer

A National Anthem singing contest is helping Southeast Michigan Ford Dealers get people in to visit showrooms to check out the latest Ford vehicles.

Southeast Michigan Ford Dealers participating in the contest includes Roy O'Brien Ford in St. Clair Shores, Mike Dorian Ford in Clinton Township and Bob Maxey Ford in Detroit, according to a company release.

The dealers teamed up with the MLB's Detroit Tigers to host the "Oh, Say Can You Sing?" contest.

Local residents 16-and-older are encouraged to audition to sing the anthem at a future Tigers game.

The winner will have their performance aired live on FOX Sports Detroit TV, and will also get four free Tiger tickets and a parking pass to the September 13 home game.

"It was our way of getting families into the showroom," Englehart said.

All auditions must be on a USB drive, CD, or DVD and dropped off at a participating Ford Dealer by August 13.

This is the third consecutive year that the Ford dealers are hosting the contest.

Contestants 14 and younger were allowed to audition the first year, which saw more than 100 children submit entries.

"There has been a lot of traffic, especially families, in the showrooms because of this contest," said Englehart. "When you can get younger eyeballs dreaming of a Mustang or looking at a new Focus five-door and say, 'That is really cool,' then really, you win."
