Hyundai Recall: 35,000 Elantra Touring Vehicles Called Back

Hyundai is recalling its 2010-'12 Hyundai Elantra Touring vehicles, according to a report by , according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Vehicles are being recalled because a headliner support bracket may cause injury.

"The affected vehicles have a support bracket attached to the headliner that may become disabled during a side-curtain airbag deployment," said NHTSA regarding the Hyundai recall. "If the headliner support bracket makes contact with an occupant during a crash, it may cause a laceration injury."

Approximately 35,000 vehicle are affected by the recall.

Vehicles affected by the recall were manufactured from December 15, 2009 through May 7, 2012.

"There have been no reports of injuries from the bracket during a side curtain airbag deployment and the Touring headliner is different than the Elantra headliner that was cause for a recall last year," said Jim Trainor, a Hyundai Motor America spokesman, according to Edmunds.

Hyundai dealers are being instructed to apply adhesive strips to the headliner.

All repairs will be completed free of charge, according to Hyundai.

A recall date has not been announced yet by the automaker. It is expected to begin sometime in August.
