General Motors is recalling almost 5,000 vehicles that may not operate correctly due to issues with windshield wipers.

2014 Chevrolet SS sport sedans and 2013-'14 Chevrolet Caprice police cars in the U.S. are affected by the recall.

The vehicles that GM wants to inspect could include faulty windshield wipers that may not operate correctly, the automaker said in a statement.

Chevrolet dealers will replace the windshield wiper module assembly, if necessary.

All necessary repairs will be completed free of charge.

No information about the recall has been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees all auto recalls in the U.S., as of press time.

"If the motor gear teeth become stripped, the wipers may not operate," GM said in a statement.

Approximately 4,794 vehicles are affected by the recall.

No recall date has been set yet by the automaker yet.

GM said it is not aware of any crashes, injuries, or fatalities related to the recall.

GM announced on June 30 that it was recalling 8.45 million more vehicles over a number of issues, including ignition switch issues and electrical problems.
