2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Recalled Over Faulty Shock Absorbers

General Motors is recalling almost 2,000 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray cars in the U.S. with the FE1 or FE3 suspension to inspect and, if necessary, repair a possible weld in the rear shocks

The issue could cause a fracture and/or reduce the shocks' service life, according to the automaker in a statement released on its website.

GM is instructing Chevrolet dealers to replace the two rear shock absorbers if necessary.

All repairs will be made, free of charge, according to the automaker.

At least 33 additional vehicles were sold in Canada and 82 were exported by GM.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle recalls in the U.S., has not commented on the recall yet as of press time.

Approximately 1,939 vehicles are affected by the recall.

GM is currently unaware if any crashes, injuries, or fatalities have occurred related to the recall.

A recall date has not been decided on yet by the automaker.

Owners with more questions can reach Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020.

Earlier this month GM recalled all 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray cars equipped with optional Competition Sport seats.

The vehicles were called back to replace the passenger-seat airbag, according to GM.

"An unbelted child and door trim may block the passenger-seat side airbag vent in a deployment," GM said in a statement at the time.

Approximately 712 vehicles are affected by the recall.
