Twitter may be rolling out a feature that lets users embed a tweet within a tweet to be able to share the original 140-character message and add their commentary.

Users on both iOS and Android have been seeing the embed option, App Advice reported via The Next Web. The company hasn't made any official announcements yet and may just be testing the feature with select tweeters.

Embedding seems to be alternative to quote retweeting, leaving more characters for users to get their message across while sharing the original tweet. According to The Next Web, the embedded tweet would provide a link to the initial 140-character message.

While the feature appears to be available on iOS and Android apps, it hasn't yet made it to the web version.

Twitter has been experimenting with plenty of new features in recent months, rolling out a profile redesign in April that some said emulated Facebook. In May, the site launched a mute button that lets users silence each other's tweets without unfollowing or blocking.

Twitter announced the change in a blog post at the time, with product manager Paul Rosania writing, "In the same way you can turn on device notifications so you never miss a Tweet from your favorite users, you can now mute users you'd like to hear from less."

When an account is muted, you won't see that user's tweets or retweets on your timeline, and you also won't receive push and SMS notifications if that user mentions you in a tweet. Mute can be turned on or off at any time, so muting another account doesn't have to be permanent.

Twitter also recently rolled out the capability to share four photos as a collage in a tweet and the ability to tag people in photos.
