Mitsubishi has recalled approximately 920,000 vehicles worldwide, including some made for Nissan, for defective light switches that can stop the car's headlights and blinker from working.

The automaker is recalling nearly 704,000 vehicles in Japan that were built from 2003-'08, a number that includes select Lancer and eK minicar series models, Reuters reported. Mitsubishi, which sold around 1.05 million vehicles worldwide last year, is also looking to make repairs on 115,000 vehicles in Australia and other countries.

The problem hasn't been reported in connection with any accidents or injuries, according to the automaker. The headlights and blinkers in the affected vehicles can stop working properly when the base of the light switch cracks, according to Mitsubishi Motors spokesman Nobuhiro Kudo, Reuters reported.

The recall is Mitsubishi's largest since the company called for repairs on 1.76 million vehicles soon after a December 2012 warning from the Japanese transport ministry, according to Bloomberg News. Officials said at the time that the carmaker was "passive" when it came to recalling cars for engine-oil leaks.

Mitsubishi hasn't disclosed how much it will spend on the recall, which will involve dealerships replacing either a plastic component inside the vehicle's light switch or the whole light switch in a 30-minute procedure.
