Use Your iPad Air To Compose Music, Travel the Globe (VIDEO)

Apple recently debuted a pair of ads for the iPad Air that showcase the device's sophisticated capabilities. In one, a travel writer named Chérie King takes her tablet with her around the world, while classical conductor and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen writes new music in the other, CNET reported.

With classical music in the background, both ads show the subjects using iPads in their everyday lives--where they just happen to be accomplishing amazing things.

King is deaf and uses her iPad to receive notifications about flight changes, information she would have missed while relying on the overhead announcements. She also uses apps for travel guides, maps and language translation.

"I've met countless deaf people, and they all tell me how brave I am for traveling. But now that they've read my site, they realize they can do it too," King said in a statement.

Salonen works as the principal conductor and artistic adviser of the Philharmonia Orchestra in London and as conductor laureate of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, CNET reported. While he travels, Salonen uses his iPad Air to compose new pieces.

Apple sold 16.4 million iPads in its fiscal second quarter, a disappointing figure compared with the 19.5 million sold in the same period a year earlier or the 19 million predicted by analysts.

Demand for the tablet has gone up and down in recent periods. Apple posted its biggest sales quarter of all time during last year's holiday season, selling 26 million iPads, but demand for iPads has only risen in two of the last five quarters, according to CNET.
