Jaguar has teased its brand new 2016 Jaguar XE compact premium sport sedan ahead of its expected debut at the 2014 Paris Auto Show.
Jaguar teased the front end of the vehicle back at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show. The photo provides interested buyers a chance to check out the vehicle, which resembles the Jaguar XF sedan.
"The new Jaguar XE is every bit a modern Jaguar car, more compact in size, but visually striking," said Ian Callum, Jaguar design director, in a statement this week.
The XE will be the first production vehicle built on Jaguar's brand-new aluminum architecture, first features in the concept version of the Jaguar C-X17 back in 2013.
Jaguar said the vehicle's aluminum structure is strong yet light, and will provide "exceptional handling, performance, refinement and efficiency."
The vehicle will be powered by "a variety of engines" from the automaker's new Ingenium engine line.
Rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations will be available when the vehicle is released.
"Customers will expect a great deal from a compact Jaguar car - it must be practical but premium. We never forget we are designing a Jaguar car, and that means it must be as exciting to look at and drive as it is brilliant to run and practical to own," said Callum.
The XE will likely rival the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, among other similar vehicles.
Pricing for the new vehicle has yet to be announced by the automaker.
Expect the XE to reach dealerships sometime in 2016.
The 2014 Paris Auto Show is scheduled to take place this September.
