General Motors has announced five separate recalls today (May 15) that covers 2.7 million U.S. vehicles, including the 2004-'12 Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Malibu, 2013-'14 Cadillac CTS and 2005-'07 Chevrolet Corvette.

Over 3 million vehicles are affected by the recall around the globe, according to CNN.

GM's biggest recall involves approximately 2.4 million 2004-'12 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-'07 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx, 2005-'10 Pontiac G6 and 2007-'10 Saturn Aura vehicles.

Each vehicle is being recalled so that the automaker can fix a problem that could cause brake lights to not illuminate.

The automaker has been notified of 13 crashes and two injuries linked to the recall.

"We have redoubled our efforts to expedite and resolve current reviews in process and also have identified and analyzed recent vehicle issues which require action," GM said in a statement this week. "These are examples of our focus to surface issues quickly and promptly take necessary actions in the best interest of our customers."

Other vehicles being recalled include:

-140,067 2014 Chevrolet Malibu over a brake issue

-103,158 2005-'07 Chevrolet Corvettes over issues with low-beam headlights

-19,225 2013-'14 Cadillac CTS over windshield-wiper failures

-477 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra and 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe over a tie-rod defect

The automaker also said it expects to take a charge of approximately $200 million in the second quarter, mainly due to the cost of recall-related repairs revealed earlier this year.
