Ford has listed its new 2015 Ford Transit van for a base price of $30,560, including a $995 shipping fee, according to a company press release.

The 2015 Ford Transit wagon will be sold for a base price of at $33,095, including shipping.

Interested customers can expect the Ford Transit to hit Ford dealerships sometime this summer, according to the automaker.

Ford also confirmed that production of its Ford Transit started on April 30 at the automaker's Kansas City Assembly Plant.

The Ford E-Series vans and wagons still will be available and sold "side-by-side" with Transit into the 2014 calendar year to "provide a seamless transition for Ford customers," according to the release.

The E-Series, which will eventually be replaced by the Transit, will continue to be built and sold through most of the rest of the decade, according to Ford.

The automaker has not announced when they will stop manufacturing E-Series vehicles yet.

In comparison, the base 2014 Ford E-150 van is sold for $29,595, including a $995 shipping fee.

Three body lengths, three roof heights, and two wheelbases (van and wagon) will be available for the new Transit.

The vehicle will be available in chassis cab, wagon, van or cutaway body styles, and in XL and XLT trim levels, according to Ford.

Transit vehicles come standard with a 3.7-liter V6 engine, though the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine offered in the Ford F-150 pickup truck is an available option to Transit customers.

The vehicle can also be equipped with the 3.2-liter Power Stroke diesel engine, according to Ford.

Each engine option is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Ford Transit is expected to compete for sales with similar vehicles like the 2014 Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana, Nissan NV, and Ram ProMaster.
