The Land Rover Discovery Sport premium compact SUV will reach dealerships sometime in 2015.
Jaguar Land Rover made the big announcement at the 2014 New York Auto Show.
"I am proud to confirm the nameplate that will make Discovery a family of vehicles for the first time," said Gerry McGovern, Land Rover design director, in a statement this weekend. "It will be called Discovery Sport."
Pricing and specifications however were not announced by the automaker at the show.
The Discovery Sport is being designed based off of the automaker's Land Rover Discovery Vision Concept.
Jaguar confirmed that they expect the vehicle to replace the Land Rover LR2.
"We announced at the Geneva Motor Show in March that the Discovery family is set to evolve," Phil Popham, marketing director for Jaguar Land Rover, said in a statement. "And it is apt that in the 25th anniversary year of the original Discovery that we preview how this evolution will take us forward into a daring new era."
The company believe the vehicle will be able to compete with the likes of the Audi Q5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class, along with others.
Jaguar Land Rover also announced plans to start production in China before the end of 2014.
