Dodge is looking to expand its muscle car segment with the introduction of its 2015 Dodge Charger.
The updated model, inspired by the 1971 vehicle, will be on display at the New York Auto Show this week.
The Dodge Charger received a full-body makeover for the 2015 model, along with powertrain improvements, which include a standard TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission on both the new R/T equipped 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 and the standard 3.6-liter V-6 Pentastar engine.
Interested customers can expect the new Charger to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2014.
Vehicles are being built at the automaker's Brampton (Ont.) Assembly Plant in Canada.
The 2015 model will be available in four options: SE, SXT, R/T and R/T Road & Track.
New standard exterior improvements include: a new hood, front doors, front and rear fascias, and fenders, according to Chrysler.
A new three-piece spoiler is standard for the R/T model, new LED fog lamps are standard for SXT and R/T options, and 20-inch wheels are standard on R/T vehicles as well.
Six different 20-inch wheel styles are available for the Dodge Charger.
New color options available include B5 Blue, which accompanies classic TordRed, according to the automaker.
Interior improvements include: a new 7-inch thin-film transistor (TFT) customizable digital gauge cluster, a new performance-inspired electronic shifter, an upgraded three-spoke thick rim steering wheel with available paddle shifters, an instrument panel center stack with next-generation radio and 5.0-inch and 8.4-inch touchscreen displays with 3-D navigation.
Eight brand-new interior trims includes:
-new Black and Tungsten cloth, which replaces Light Frost Beige for SXT and R/T vehicles
-new Black and Pearl leather, which replaces Tan leather
-new Black and Ruby Red, which replaces Radar Red leather

The 2015 model is also equipped with a number of technical features, like a trial of Uconnect Access Services, new Adaptive Cruise Control Plus with Full Stop, new full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus, new TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, and Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist.
All-wheel-drive (AWD) with front-axle disconnect is available for the 2015 SXT and SE models.
Vehicles with the V-6 engine will get about 31 mpg on the highway.
Six different 20-inch wheels are available on Charger for 2015, including an 20-by-9-inch forged aluminum wheel.
Other colors available includes: Jazz Blue Pearl, Bright White, Ivory Tri-coat, Phantom Black, Granite Crystal Metallic, and Billet Silver Metallic.
The automaker is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
