2014 Ford Escape Earns Four-Star Safety Rating From NHTSA

Ford has confirmed that its 2014 Ford Escape crossover recently earned a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Five stars is the highest rating a vehicle can receive from the NHTSA.

The 2014 Escape received five stars in the side crash test, and four stars in front and rollover crash tests.

The ratings apply to 4x2 and 4x4 variants, according to the automaker.

Standard features found inside the new Escape includes a rearview camera and six airbags, like a side curtain airbag.

Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert and blind spot mirrors are optional features, according to Ford.

The 2014 Escape competes with similar vehicles like the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, and the Kia Sportage.

Ford's 2014 Escape also received "Good" ratings almost every Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash test.

The vehicle did earn a "Poor" rating in the small overlap front crash test.

The small overlap front crash test was designed to see how the front corner of a vehicle withstands a hit from another vehicle or driving into a large object like a tree, according to the IIHS.
