New Fisker Karma Warranty Covers Just $2,000 per Vehicle

A brand new Fisker Karma warranty covers just $2,000 per vehicle, according to the new owners of the automaker.

"We understand if you are an owner and paid good money for your vehicle, $2,000 is not what you bargained for or expected," said The New Fisker in a posting on the company's website this week. "We are already hard at work discussing ways that we can make this a better experience for all current Fisker owners and hope to bring better news to each owner in the near future."

This means the warranty covers approximately 2 percent of the value of the Fisker Karma, which sold for a base price of $100,000.

Fisker's new owners are trying to get its customers psyched for the future however.

Chinese owner Wanxiang said in the statement that it believes "we can launch the (Fisker) Atlantic, Surf and Sunset in the future."

"The Karma platform allows The New Fisker to develop a lot of variations to address our customers' desires," the statement reads. "With the Atlantic platform we expect the same ability to create different models to address our customers' wants and desires."

Fisker customers were assured by the company that it intends "to restart production of the Karma as fast as possible."

Production could be restarted at a former GM plant located in Delaware, according to the automaker.

"One of the assets acquired was a plant located in Delaware," the statement reads. "We are diligently assessing the viability of utilizing that plant as it was originally intended."
