Yahoo will reportedly stop allowing consumers to access a number of its online services, like Fantasy Sports and Flickr, by signing into their Facebook or Google accounts.
The decision means users will now have to register for and sign in using their Yahoo ID to access any of its services.
The switch will be "rolled out gradually," according to Reuters, who cited a Yahoo spokeswoman.
"Yahoo is continually working on improving the user experience," the company said in a statement, adding the process "will allow us to offer the best personalized experience to everyone," according to Reuters.
The move is the most recent change to be implemented by Chief Executive Marissa Mayer, who is attempting to spark new interest in the Yahoo services.
The first Yahoo service to require the new sign-in process is Yahoo Sports Tourney Pick'Em service, which focuses on the NCAA college basketball tournament that begins later this month, according to tech blog Betanews.
Mayer, a former Google executive, took over in 2012, and since he has introduced out new versions of many key products, like Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Finance.
By eliminating the Google and Facebook sign-ins, Mayer is essentially reversing a strategy that company implemented in 2010 and 2011 under previous CEO Carol Bartz.
Logins for Facebook and Google will be removed from all Yahoo services, the Yahoo spokeswoman confirmed, though a timeframe for the switch has not been announced.
