Two important Microsoft executives, Tony Bates and Tami Reller, will both reportedly leave the company, according to a number of media outlets.

Mark Penn, who will become chief strategy officer, will have more of a say in determining which markets Microsoft should be in and where it should be making future investments, according to the New York Times, citing a person "briefed on the change."

Bates, a former Skype CEO, was in charge of Microsoft's business development. He will leave the company "immediately," according to Re/code, who cited unnamed sources.

Eric Rudder, currently head of advanced strategy, will take over Bates' duties for the time being, and marketing executive Chris Capossela will take over for Reller.

Reller will stay with Microsoft "for some time" to help with the change before leaving, according to Reuters.

Satya Nadella, who was named CEO on February 4, told staff the news on Feb. 28, and the company will reveal the news publicly on March 4.

Microsoft has yet to comment publically on the reports.
