Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has brought on hip-hop star Sean "P. Diddy" Combs to market the latest Fiat model.
The 2014 Fiat 500L is showcased in the new ad, which brings attention to the four-door car's larger size compared with the earlier Fiat 500, Edmunds.com reported.
In the 1-minute commercial spot, two guys wandering in the desert stumble onto Diddy and an entourage climbing in and out of shiny new Fiat 500L models at an oasis.
One rightly believes it's the real deal, but the other tells him it has to be a mirage because "Fiat doesn't make a four-door car."
The Fiat 500L, which is available at dealerships now, breaks the mold for the brand by having room for five adults as well as cargo, according to USA TODAY.
The ad, called "Mirage," emphasizes the new direction for Fiat.
"The commercial challenges the notion that the Fiat brand only makes small cars," Chrysler said in a statement.
The 500L is the second vehicle for Fiat, which recently merged with Chrysler in a $4.3 billion deal.
Like its predecessor, the 500L has a 160-horsepower 1.4L MultiAir Turbo engine. The car, which has a six-speed manual transmission, is being marketed as an "urban utility vehicle" in the United States, an all-purpose crossover suitable for almost any outing.
While the 500L doesn't yet have all-wheel drive available, it is equipped with a power sunroof with glass across the entire top of the car.
The new Fiat starts at $19,100 for the base trim, while the priciest version goes for $27,895, and it has a fuel economy of around 26 miles per gallon, according to USA TODAY.
