A deranged driver who reportedly rammed a father and daughter's car over and over and then chased them around a Whole Foods store has been taken into custody.

Remy Blaisdell Gagon allegedly hit Christopher Jost's vehicle multiple times while Jost was driving on a Raleigh, N.C., highway with his daughter on Saturday night, Good Morning America reported.

"I've got a guy that's following me, and he's rear-ended me and now he's following me again," Jost said in the 911 call to the Raleigh Police Department.

"He hit us again! Oh my God!"

The suspect reportedly followed Jost and continued to hit the Saab convertible after the North Carolina dad stopped in a Whole Foods Market parking lot to wait for help, the New York Daily News reported.

According to the police report, Jost waited in the car and told his daughter the right moment to run to the store for shelter. He followed soon after, but Gagon allegedly followed him into the grocery store.

Jost has been called a hero for his actions to protect his daughter.

"I just believe that my brother is a hero," Carolyn Floyd, Jost's sister, told ABC News. "He is an absolute hero."

Gagon, who apparently didn't know the victims before the reported incident, allegedly chased Jost around a Whole Foods cash register before he was apprehended by police.

Authorities, who are investigating to see if the suspect was under the influence of any substances, didn't report using force to take Gagon into custody. He was transferred to Rex Hospital but has since been discharged; he is now in custody at an undisclosed location.

Gagon has been charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of simple assault, and one count of careless and reckless driving, Good Morning America reported.

His attorney and preliminary court date have not yet been assigned, the public defender's office in Wake County told ABC News.
