A number of a new vehicles set to be released by different automakers will supposedly include one similar feature: LED lights.

General Motors and BMW have both recently confirmed vehicles that will include the feature, according to separate press statements

The new 2015 Cadillac Escalade features LED lighting, supposedly inspired by Manhattan skyscrapers and "fine-cut crystal," according to GM.

"Iconic buildings, like the Hearst Tower in New York City, were a big inspiration due to the interplay of glass and metal," said Martin Davis, Cadillac exterior lighting design manager, in a statement, according to the automaker.

GM said approximately 142 LEDs will make up the front and rear lights for its 2015 Escalade.

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe can also be ordered with optional headlights.

Pricing has yet to be revealed for the LED feature.

BMW confirmed this week that the 2015 BMW i8 will become the first production model equipped with the new laser-light headlights, according to Edmunds.

"While the basic version of the BMW i8 is equipped with high-intensity, energy-efficient full LED headlamps, the optional laser boost feature additionally ensures a high-beam range of up to 600 meters (.037 miles)," said BMW in press statement. "This means that the already high illumination range of the modern LED high beam is doubled."

The i8 is expected to go on sale during the second quarter of this year.

Federal safety regulators have yet to give the green light to the new headlights however, according to Edmunds. The laser-light system has still yet to be approved for commuter use in the U.S.

"As of now it isn't," wrote Dave Buchko, a BMW spokesman, to Edmunds regarding the approval. "We are still hoping to get some movement on this before the market launch here."
