Jonah Hill Earned Just $60,000 Minimum Wage for Oscar-Nominated Role

A $60,000 paycheck for seven months of work might not sound like such a bad deal. But when the gig is to play a role that receives an Academy Award nomination, the price seems a bit low.

Jonah Hill, who has received a Best Supporting Actor nomination, earned just $60,000 before taxes for his part in "The Wolf of Wall Street," The Telegraph reported.

Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film has been nominated for five Oscars altogether, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Despite the relatively slim paycheck, Hill was ecstatic to be part of the film, the "Superbad" actor said in a recent radio interview with Howard Stern.

"They gave me the lowest amount of money possible; that was their offer," Hill said as quoted by The Telegraph. "And I said 'I will sign the paper tonight. Fax me the papers tonight. I want to sign them tonight before they change their mind'."

In the $100 million-budget film, Hill portrayed Donnie Azoff, who is best friend to Leonardo DiCaprio's stockbroker character Jordan Belfort.

Hill previously earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his role in 2011's "Moneyball" opposite Brad Pitt.

In spite of reports that fellow actor DiCaprio made millions from "The Wolf of Wall Street," Hill has no regrets for taking on the role.

"I would sell my house and give all my money to work for him (Scorsese)," Hill said. "This isn't what you make money for. I would've done anything in the world. I would do it again in a second. This s--- isn't about money. You should do things that you care about."

The film about greed and power on Wall Street was a critical hit but didn't fare too well at the domestic box office, only bringing in around $92.5 million, according to BoxOfficeMojo.
