Volkswagen has announced that its 2014 Volkswagen Beetle 1.8T with a five-speed manual transmission will be sold for $21,115, including an $820 shipping fee.
The price is $325 more than the current 2013 Volkswagen 2.5-Liter Beetle, according to VW.
The 2014 Beetle 1.8T with a six-speed automatic transmission is available for $22,215, including shipping.
VW also confirmed that the convertible option of the new Beetle can be purchased for $25,990, including shipping.
The vehicle competes with similar models like the 2014 Hyundai Veloster and Scion tC.
The Beetle is equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, capable of delivering 170 horsepower, according to the automaker.
The 1.8-liter engine supposedly returns better EPA fuel economy numbers as well, compared to the previous 2.5-liter unit.
VW's 1.8T engine and six-speed automatic returns approximately 25 mpg in city driving and 33 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. The engine with a five-speed manual transmission returns 24 mpg in city driving and 33 mpg on the highway.
The 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine option with a five-speed manual transmission returns 22 mpg in city driving and 31 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA.
The 2014 Beetle is available for purchase now.
