Johnny Depp Engaged to Amber Heard; Couple Met on 'Rum Diary' Set

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are engaged, PEOPLE confirmed on Saturday.

Heard, 27, had been seen with a diamond ring on her left hand, but the couple had kept the news quiet.

"Of course they couldn't be happier to be engaged and excited to share the rest of their lives together," a source close to Heard told PEOPLE.

The source said that Heard has "told close friends" the news and that the actress has bonded well with Depp's two children.

"Amber has really taken well to the kids and really enjoys spending time with them," the source told PEOPLE. "And she's even taken Lily shopping on her own for some bonding time."

PEOPLE had earlier reported via E! News that Heard was spotted with bling on her left hand Monday night while leaving a Hollywood restaurant.

The actress was snapped with her right hand concealing her left, but E! still managed to capture an image of something massive and shiny on a certain finger.

Depp and Heard's relationship became a public item in 2012 after the 50-year-old actor announced his split with singer, model and actress Vanessa Paradis.

While they never married, the pair had been together for 14 years and have two children, 14-year-old Lily Rose and 11-year-old Jack.

The newly engaged couple will be seen in the same movie again in "London Fields," which stars Heard and is slated for release sometime this year. Depp will be featured in a cameo appearance, according to PEOPLE.

Depp was previously married to makeup artist Lori Anne Allison from 1983 to 1985, E! reported.
