Wife of Miami Dolphins QB Forgets Rifle in Rental Car

The model wife of Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill left behind a $2,000 AR-15 rifle in the back seat of a Nissan SUV she rented on Jan. 4, according to a report by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Lauren Tannehill, 26, supposedly rented the Nissan Rogue on Jan. 4 only to bring it back for another vehicle, according to the report.

The Rogue was then rented by Judith Fleissig of Rochester, N.Y. just three hours after being returned. Fleissig was in South Florida with her daughter, who was interviewing for a pediatric residency program in Miami, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Two days later Fleissig's daughter discovered the gun inside the car.

The two then got out of the car, took a photo, and drove to a police station. E-Z, the company that rented the car out to Fleissig, said that all vehicles are cleaned out before being rented out again.

"I'm not sure how that could get past," Charlie Graham, the company's VP of business development, said to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The Tannehills supposedly called the rental car company to report a "missing item" but failed to say what was missing, an unidentified source told the paper.

No charges have been filed, and the gun is legally owned by the Dolphins QB. The family, speaking through a Dolphins spokesman, has called the incident a "personal matter."

"Though dangerous if it would have landed in the wrong hands, it's not criminal," Broward Sherrif's spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said to the newspaper. "They simply forgot it."
