Honda Claims Title of Most Durable Mainstream Brand The Last 25 Years

If you're looking to buy a car that will last a long time, Honda is probably the automaker for you.

The automaker is basing their claim on Polk vehicle registrations from 1988 through 2012.

"In the mainstream segment, an industry best 75 percent of all Honda vehicles sold in the last 25 years were still on the road," Honda said in a press statement.

No one has had a higher percentage of vehicles on the road during the last 25 years than Honda, according to a company press release.

Three out of four Hondas sold the last 25 years are still on the road.

"One of the most important considerations for a new vehicle purchase is how long that vehicle will last and this study demonstrates that Honda quality and reliability is not just part of our hard-earned reputation but represents our industry-leading performance on the road," said Michael Accavitti, a senior vice president of American Honda, in a statement, according to the company press release.

The claim does not include Honda's Acura brand however, which is a part of 11 percent of vehicles during that time frame that falls in the luxury vehicle category.

In 2013, for the second year in a row, Honda won ALG's top honor of Best Mainstream Brand in its annual Residual Value Awards, according to the company press release. Honda has won the honor 8 out of 11 years, way more than any other automaker.
