Hilary Duff, Mike Comrie Split after Three Years of Marriage

Hilary Duff has confirmed that she and husband of three years Mike Comrie have split up.

E! News spoke to Duff's representative and reported the breakup exclusively.

"Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie have mutually decided to an amicable separation," the spokesperson said in a statement. "They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time."

Actress and singer Duff, 26, and former NHL hockey player Comrie, 33, married in August 2010 at a ceremony in Santa Barbara, Calif. They had first begun dating in summer 2007.

According to an E! News source, the split is friendly, and the two are on good terms. As with many other celebrity relationships, Duff and Comrie reportedly drifted apart over time. They couldn't mend the marriage even with couple's therapy; however, they remain "best friends," the source close to them told E! News.

Duff and Comrie have a son, Luca Cruz Comrie, who will turn two in March.

"We are overjoyed," Duff tweeted at the time. "He is surrounded by so much love!! Mom and baby are both doing extremely well."

Of Comrie as a dad, Duff later told E! News, "He's really incredible. He's so hands-on, so thoughtful, so loving. He's really a natural, it's incredible. I got really lucky."

The former couple were spotted earlier this week without Luca in tow at a park in Beverly Hills, Calif., according to E! News. They still appeared to be a romantic pair at the time.

After seven years since her last studio effort, Duff has been working on a new album, The Huffington Post reported. Duff has said on Twitter that she likes electronic dance music and is looking for "catchy hooks" and strong lyrics for the new record, which doesn't have a release date yet.
