2014 Detroit Auto Show Preview: Porsche To Debut 911 Targa, Cayenne Platinum Editions

Porsche will feature two world debuts at next week's Detroit Auto Show, the company announced Wednesday.

The Atlanta, Ga.-based carmaker will kick off Monday with the international debut of the Porsche 911 Targa, which will be unveiled at a press conference that morning, according to a press release.

The new car pays homage to the original 911 Targa of 1965, featuring "the distinctive Targa bar, a movable center roof section and a wrap-around rear window combined with innovative technical solutions that make it a true modern classic," said the press release.

Porsche fans can check out a live stream of the new 911 Targa's debut here at 11:45 a.m. EST.

The automaker will also show off  the all-new Cayenne Platinum Edition and Cayenne Diesel Platinum Edition, also a world debut. Both models are based on the Cayenne and Cayenne Diesel cars, but the new platinum versions include many requested features in the standard trim.

The Cayenne platinum models also have exterior accents in Platinum Silver Metallic, while the interior is decked out in Black Luxor/Beige.

With 300 horsepower and 295 pound-foot of torque, the Cayenne Platinum Edition can jump from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.4 seconds, according to the press release.

With a base listing of $63,300, the new edition is now on sale at Porsche dealerships.

For the diesel model, the new edition has a 3-liter V6 turbo diesel engine that delivers 240 horsepower and can reach 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. It starts at $66,900. The two base prices don't include a $995 destination charge.

Also at the upcoming North American International Auto Show, Porsche will showcase its recent debuts, the Porsche Macan S and Macan Turbo, which were both featured at the LA Auto Show in November.

Scheduled to hit American dealerships in the late spring, the 2015 Porsche Macan models will start at $49,900 for the Macan S and $72,300 for the Macan Turbo.
