2015 Hyundai Genesis Designed to Sync With Google Glass, Other Wearable Devices

Those who purchase the 2015 Hyundai Genesis will be able to use Google Glass and other wearable devices to access most of the vehicle's features, according to the automaker.

Hyundai will launch a Blue Link Glassware app in 2015 to go with the new Genesis. The app will allow users to access Car Care services, along with other Blue Link features, according to Hyundai.

"Push notifications will alert the owner when maintenance is due and allow quick service scheduling by enabling the wearer to initiate a call using the device's built-in functionality," Hyundai said in a statement this week about the announcement.

Blue Link features include remote door lock/unlock, remote start, POI send-to-car, and vehicle finder. The POI feature will be powered by Google, according to Hyundai.

Essentially Google Glass wearers will be able to interact with your Genesis without having to use your smartphone.

"We see wearables as a technology trend," said Barry Ratzlaff, Hyundai Motor America executive director of Customer Connect and Service Business Development in a statement, according to the automaker. "We're always exploring new ways to use technology to enhance the ownership experience for our customers."

Google has yet to reach a deal with Kia competitors like Chrysler and Lincoln to incorporate Google Glass with their vehicles.

The cost of the wearable device app has yet to be decided by the automaker.
