Obama Daughters Sent Present to Godmother That Ended Up at the Wrong House

An Illinois family received a special Christmas present this year in the mail from a family that they had never met but whose names they definitely recognized.

Alane Church of Wadsworth, which is north of Chicago, got a box of presents from her brother-in-law that arrived a week late and had obviously been opened and repackaged, the Daily Mail reported.

Besides the presents that Church and her family were intended to receive, the box held a gift addressed to Sasha and Malia Obama's godmother, Eleanor "Mama Kaye" Wilson.

"The gifts were broken open. Parts of the old box were in this toilet paper box that the post office repackaged, and in the bottom of the box was this extra gift," Church told TODAY on Thursday.

The surprise gift was a personalized book of photographs for Wilson, who is a close friend of the Obama family.

"It's very special. Private moments of their year of 2013 together," Church described.

She posted a snapshot of the gift's label on Facebook with a caption: "Ok this is crazy!!!! We finally received Tom's brothers Christmas box from NY.... It can (sic) damaged and with an extra gift!!! All the packages were opened and tossed in a toilet paper box!!!! We got the Presidents Gift!!!!!!!! What to do.......? Wow!!!!"

Church eventually got in touch with Wilson to discover that Sasha and Malia make a book for their godmother each year. The label on the gift reads, "To Mama Kaye + Papa Wellington from Barack, Michelle + the girls."

Of Wilson, Church wrote in a Facebook post, "She is so kind, and very excited to get her picture book of the girls' lives in 2013!"

The gift will soon be on its way to its proper owner. Church declined to show any of the book's photographs to TODAY anchors, saying, "We're sort of wanting to keep it private for Mama Kaye."
