Chrysler has filed for a new patent that would help improve its Stow 'n Go minivan seats, according to the automaker.

The upgraded seats might be included in the new 2015 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravans, but Chrysler has yet to confirm anything yet.

Inventors Carl Mather and Todd Teasdale created the new design, according to Edmunds.

The design, as outlined in the patent available online, would allow consumers to fold the second-row seats in, and then push the seats into the floor, according to Chrysler.

"The new setup also creates a flat floor with two pieces - one hinged to the floor, the other to the seat back. Currently, one piece hinged to the floor covers the collapsed seat," said Edmunds about the new patent.

Chrysler initially filed the paperwork for the new design in December 2011.

The Stow 'n Go seat was first introduced back in 2005.

Chrysler spokesman Rick Deneau has declined to say which vehicle will include the new design.
