Over 100,000 preorders have been placed by China Mobile customers for Apple's iPhone 5S and 5C devices, according to a report by CNET.com.
The 100,000 preorders were placed during the first two days the devices were made available through China Mobile.
Analyst at Wedge Partners said this week that approximately 100,000 people have preordered an iPhone device since Apple reached a deal with China's largest mobile carrier on Dec. 22.
There are currently 760 million China Mobile subscribers according to Reuters, so that number may increase greatly before the end of the week.
This past September, over 120,000 preorders were placed for iPhone devices from China Unicom subscribers. Another 150,000 were placed by China Telecom subscribers, according to a report by AllThingsD, who spoke with analyst Brian Blair.
"What's important to remember is these phones launched in September," said Blair to AllThingsD. "Now here we are several months later and there's no subsidy being offered that's so special that the preorders are off the charts. If this had been in September when the phone launched globally, I think the numbers would be a lot higher."
China Mobile won't launch the iPhone devices until January, so sales are expected to increase by then.
Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster was recently quoted saying that he projects China Mobile to sell around 17 million iPhones in 2014, according to CNET.com. Even if Munster is correct, that would only reach approximately 2 percent of China Mobile subscribers.
