A new report released by Digitimes is claiming a 12.9-inch iPad Air tablet will be released by October 2014, and will be made available in North America.

Just one month ago, Apple reached a deal with supplier Quanta Computer to produce a larger iPad device in 2014, and now it seems like we know which device the two companies will be working together to make.

The large iPad Air will likely replace the 11-inch MacBook Air, according to Digitimes.com.

"Quanta is expected to encounter several challenges in terms of industrial design and assembly when making the large-size iPad. And since the size is not the mainstream specification, order volumes are expected to be limited," Digitimes reported about the Quanta deal.

The same article claims a large iPhone device will be released in May 2014. The next Apple phone is expected to be the iPhone 6, which would mean a third iPhone device in in under a year.

Since 2011, a new iPhone hasn't been released earlier than September. The iPhone 4S was released in October 2011, the iPhone 5 was released in September 2012, and the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C was released in September 2013.

Apple is supposedly testing two screen sizes currently: a 4.7-inch device with 720x1280 resolution, and a massive 5.7-inch display with HD 1080p resolution.

Company CEO Tim Cook recently sent out an end-of-the-year email to all Apple employees and included a message with his expectations for the company over the next 12 months.

"We have a lot to look forward to in 2014, including some big plans that we think customers are going to love," said Cook in the email, according to 9to5Mac.

It seems like Apple expects 2014 to be a pretty eventful year.
