Consumer Reports has named the Toyota Prius once again the top vehicle on its annual Best New-Car Value list.

The car-testing company said this week that the Prius "has the right combination of performance, reliability and low estimated five-year ownership costs of 47 cents per mile."

Toyota sells its new Prius for a base retail price of $29,230.

Consumer Reports tested over 200 vehicles currently sold to create their list. They considered reliability, road-test scores, and five-year owner-cost estimates.

The Honda Fit was the runner-up for the second year in a row. It had topped the list for four consecutive years until being knocked off by Toyota's Prius in 2012.

"Prius' 44 (mpg) overall is the best fuel economy of any non-plug-in car that Consumer Reports has tested," said Consumer Reports Automotive Editor Rik Paul in a statement. "Though it's not particularly cheap to buy, the Prius' depreciation is so low that it costs less to own over the first five years than its initial (price). We call that a bargain."

The top-performance vehicle among all luxury cars was the Lexus ES 300h, whereas the Honda Ridgeline TRS was the top pickup truck, according to Consumer Reports.

The Nissan Armada SUV was ranked at the bottom of the Best New-Car Value list. The vehicle gets only 13 mpg.
