Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling its 2014 Mercedes-Benz S550 because the front seatbelt anchor could come loose, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Approximately 290 vehicles are involved in the recall.

"In the affected vehicles, the front seatbelt anchor might not be installed correctly, allowing it to become loose in a crash," said the NHTSA.

The affected cars were produced from April 11, 2013 through October 14, 2013.

Mercedes-Benz told safety regulators the problem was found during quality assurance inspections.

Mercedes-Benz dealers are being instructed to fix the front seatbelt anchor fitting.

"If the seatbelt anchor comes loose in the event of a crash, the occupant may not be properly secured, increasing the risk of injury," said the NHTSA.

The recall will begin before the end of December.
