Some people put up a wreath for Christmas and call it a day. Some go above and beyond.
Renetta Zanco of Lothian, Md., definitely falls into the second category. Each year, it takes days for her to unpack and decorate her collection of 277 Christmas trees, Jezebel reported via FOX 5 News.
The massive tree collection is some 20 years in the making and began as a rivalry between Zanco and her sister who lives in Oklahoma.
"Each year, she would call me up and say, 'How many trees did you put up?' And then, of course, I would have to outdo her," Zanco said. "So I would call her back and say I've got two more then you did. Then she would call me back the next year [and say], 'Well, I've got five more' and it started out like that."
Zanco has since beaten her sister in the Christmas tree "arms race," and trees of all shapes and sizes decorate the house. Even the attic is decked out with a display for Santa's workshop.
How many trees are in her bathroom?
"I think there are 28," she told FOX 5.
Of those 28, one is made of toilet paper rolls and another is set up in the shower.
"It's not like I am keeping somebody from taking a shower or anything because it's only me and my husband here," Zanco noted.
While her husband helps out with the yearly grind to set up all those trees--often putting in eight- or 10-hour days--the basement is off limits, at his request.
One of Zanco's 277 trees is decorated with spoons from around the world, one coming from the famous Santa Claus, Ind., the self-titled "America's Christmas Hometown."
Zanco actually wasn't too impressed with the spot.
"I was a little bit disappointed because I think I had more trees than they did."
