Ford to Launch 16 New Vehicles in North America During 2014

Ford has announced it will launch 16 new vehicles in North America during 2014, including the 2015 Ford Mustang, Ford Transit Connect and Lincoln MKC.

At least 23 new vehicles will debut in 2014 globally, according to Ford.

"We saw unprecedented growth in the Unites States this year, especially in the midsize and utility segments," said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, in a statement.

Ford also revealed this week that it plans on adding over 5,000 new jobs in the U.S. next year.

Ford will open three new production plants in 2014 as well. Two of the plants will be located in Asia Pacific and one will be found in South America.

"Next year, we are embarking on our most ambitious global launch year ever to meet customer demand for our products around the world," said Raj Nair, group vice president of Ford global product development, in a statement.

Production for the automaker's new Transit vehicle will start during the second quarter of 2014 at Ford's newly revamped Kansas City Assembly Plant. Ford put $1.1 billion into the Kansas City plant to handle production.
