Honda Motors is recalling its 2014 Acura MDX equipped with all-wheel drive to fix loose drive-shaft bolts, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Approximately 19,197 vehicles are involved in the recall.

"The bolts that attach the drive shaft to the automatic transmission transfer assembly may not have been properly tightened," said NHTSA in a summary of the issue. "As a result, the bolts could loosen, possibly allowing the shaft to detach.

Honda said it has received no complaints of crashes or injuries linked to the recall.

Affected models were built from May 6, 2013 through October 14, 2013.

"If the drive shaft detaches while driving, it could cause excessive noise and possibly damage the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash," the NHTSA said.

Honda dealers are being instructed to inspect and tighten the drive shaft attaching bolts in affected models, free of charge. The recall will begin later on this month.
