An automotive supplier will display concept technologies including a cockpit with gesture recognition and autonomous features at the 2014 International CES event next month in Las Vegas.

In its 15th year as part of the consumer electronics convention, global automotive supplier Visteon Corporation will present a showcase with new concepts that focus on autonomous driving, according to a press release.

"Consumers' demand for media access and seamless connectivity solutions is changing the face of automotive electronics and Visteon has the technology and capabilities to drive this evolution," Martin T. Thall, newly appointed president of Visteon Electronics, said in the press release.

The vehicle cockpit technologies require less physical interaction and reduce potential distractions for the driver, said the press release.

Visteon's concepts explore a new user interface where the driver's eye gaze and head direction provide control in the vehicle cockpit. Image tracking, gesture recognition and camera technology all work together in the concept system.

The connected car project with autonomous driving features was developed in partnership with a European car manufacturer.

The concept also features connectivity, touch technology and next-generation user interface in the infotainment system.

Scheduled for Jan. 7-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the 2014 CES will feature more than 3,200 exhibitors.
